My concentration is silhouettes. I am a little stuck on where to go from here though. I started my concentrations with paintings of silhouettes, but then changed it to cutouts. Where I set up the cutouts and take pictures in the dark room with light coming in at different angles.
This month, one of my pieces I decided to change it up a little and make the silhouette a part of a photo that I had taken. Where there is a real background, not paper (or cutouts). This will bring in color and texture into my pieces. Whereas before all the objects were flat and black and white.
It was interesting, but I feel like this will push my concentration in a new direction. I was running out of scenes to create and they were getting a little boring (in my opinion). I don't know, maybe that's just me.
What do you think? Do you like this direction? Should I continue this? Any ideas? Help.
I like the new direction of using photos to add color, but you should still do some cut paper ones, because those were really cool. Make sure that, like this one, any other pictures you use have cool and muted colors so as to be gradual in adding color and make it connect a little bit with the rest of your colorless pieces.
ReplyDeleteHeyo, I like what you've been doing lately, about having silhouettes in pictures and having color in the background instead of white. Looks fresh dawg. I don't expect you to remember but at the beginning of the year for one of my thousand pictures, I used one of some guy waterskiing with the sunset behind him, him in the middle all silhouettey and water in front of him which stood out and looked white since it reflected the light but anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that you could have something in front of the silhouette that stands out against them? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteMADDIE I LOVE THESE! The backgrounds are really helping! Keep thinking of ideas of poses that your subjects can do, or even do a silhouette of an object rather than a person? Congrats these are really growing and becoming amazing!
ReplyDeleteHey Maddie! I really like that you mixed real water with the silhouettes this time! It makes this piece much more interesting and fun. I sort of wish the main girl wasn't right in the middle of the piece though, and that you played with space a little more. I think if you moved the two people around a little bit, this piece would be even better. I really like where you're going with your concentration, though. Great job!
